As many of you may have noticed lately, there have been several times when
the OPPCATV.COM E-mail has been very slow, or at times not functioning at all. We
are working hard to keep the current system going, as we prepare to
migrate to a different server and E-mail system. With this new system,
all current issues regarding the E-mail system should be resolved.
At this time, the designated date for the E-mail server migration will be Monday, June 7th, 2010. In order for your E-mail account to be migrated to the new server, please follow the directions below ON OR AFTER June 7TH, 2007.
----------------------------------------------
What do I do to migrate to the new server?
----------------------------------------------
For users that use Outlook Express, Windows Mail, Thunderbird or any other computer based Email client:
Nothing will have to be done. Continue to operate your email as usual.
For users that use our web mail interface:
If you want to go ahead and convert your account before June 7th, 2010 you may do so by
logging into http://surgemail.oppcatv.com/ and entering your user name and password
and clicking on log in. This will move your email over. Note it may take a few minutes for
all of your email to show up, as it has to connect and download the email from the old server.

-----------------------------------------------
How long do I have?
-----------------------------------------------
The old mail server will continue to function until Monday, August 2nd. A reminder email will be sent
on Monday, July 5th, 2010 to remind you if you have not done so to move your web mail account over. Again
if you use a computer based email client such as Outlook Express, Windows Mail, Thunderbird, etc you will
not have to do anything different. This only applies to customers that use our Web mail exclusively.
-----------------------------------------------
What is going to change?
-----------------------------------------------
There will also be a few changes with our migration to the new E-mail
system. First and foremost, the Web mail Interface will have a lot of
changes. The look and feel of the layout of the Web mail Interface will be
a lot different from the current system we use. Some options may be in
somewhat different places, but over all, the functionality of the Web mail
system will be the same, with some additional features. Some of the new
features include an Integrated Calendar system, a new Blogging feature, Photo feature
and an Online File Storage system. While these features may not be used
by everyone, they may prove useful for both business and personal use.
The limit of 200MB for E-mail and file storage per user will still be as normal
A reminder will also be sent when the E-mail and file storage nears the
user's limit.
------------------------------------------------
I am concerned about missing emails!
------------------------------------------------
Missing emails should not be a problem, as mail has been received at the new
mail server for quite some time (a month prior to this email). Basically what
happens is, if you do not have an account on it, it simply passes it to the old
mail server for delivery. When you create your account by either checking your email
with your computer based email client, or via our web mail interface, it will
download your mail from the old mail server, and it will no longer pass email to
the old mail server. This should result in no missed messages and zero downtime.
-------------------------------------------------
